About Fieldnote
Health tools built the way
tools used to be built.
Fieldnote started with a simple observation: the best health tracking tools are the ones you actually use. And the ones people actually use are fast, private, and don’t ask anything of you before they’re useful.
Most health apps today require an account before you’ve logged a single thing. They want your email address, your date of birth, your permission to send you notifications. Then they charge you monthly for the privilege of hosting your data on their servers — data that belongs to you.
Fieldnote works differently. Each tool is a native iOS app. Your data is stored on your iPhone, on the device itself. Nothing leaves your device. No server ever receives what you log, and there’s no account to create.
You can export your data anytime as a standard JSON file and import it on another device or into any future version, or just keep it as your personal health record.
That’s the entire model.
Who builds Fieldnote?
A small independent studio focused on well-crafted digital tools. We build things that are meant to last — not to grow, raise money, or be acquired. If a tool is useful, it should just exist and work.
We don’t use licence keys, accounts, or access restrictions. The apps are on the App Store. We build them because they should exist, the way well-made independent software has been built for decades, and we’re happy to operate on the same basis.
A note on medical use
Fieldnote tools are for personal tracking, not medical advice. They’re designed to help you notice patterns, remember what happened, and have better conversations with your healthcare providers. They are not diagnostic tools. Always work with a qualified clinician for anything that matters.
